Classification

  • Wheelchair 1 (WH1): Players in this class require a wheelchair to play badminton. Players in this Sport Class usually have impairment in both lower limbs and trunk function.
  • Wheelchair 2 (WH2): A player in this class could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and minimal or no impairment of the trunk. Players are required to play on a wheelchair in this class.
  • Standing Lower (SL3): In this class a player must play standing. The player could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and poor walking/running balance.
  • Standing Lower (SL4): A second standing class where the player has a lesser impairment compared to Sport Class SL 3. The player could have impairment in one or both lower limbs and minimal impairment in walking/running balance.
  • Standing Upper (SU5): The players in this class have impairment of the upper limbs. The impairment could be on the playing or non-playing hand.

      Each delegation must register at least 1 coach.

      Tournaments: Four separate chess tournaments will be organized for boys and girls born between 2010 and 2016.

      The Rapid Chess Tournaments for boys and girls will follow the Individual Swiss System and consist of 11 rounds. The time control will be 15 minutes with a 10-second increment per move starting from move 1 for both players. The number of rounds may be adjusted based on the total number of registered athletes.

      The Blitz Chess Tournaments for boys and girls will also follow the Individual Swiss System and consist of 11 rounds. The time control will be 5 minutes with a 3-second increment per move starting from move 1 for both players. The number of rounds may be adjusted based on the total number of registered athletes.

      There is no limit to the number of athletes each delegation can register for the chess competition. However, each delegation must include at least one Head of Delegation, one Coach, and one Athlete.

      Please refer detailed rules and regulations for clear explanation to finalize delegation composition for team events, singles or doubles.

      Registration

      • Athletes can register in a maximum of two (2) competition events (Teams/ Singles/ Doubles).
      • Every delegation presenting more than one (1) athlete per gender must register a team.
      • Every delegation presenting one (1) athlete will participate in singles competition.
      • Every delegation can register a maximum of two (2) Teams per gender.
      • For those delegations registering more that two (2) players, once the delegation registered a team, its not mandatory that every athlete must be registered in Team Competition.
      • Every delegation can register as many single athletes as they want. No limit for singles.
      • Every delegation can register as many doubles as they want. No limit for doubles.

      Minimum number of field of play officials (referees) per delegation:

      • Between 1 to 4 athletes = 0 FOPO (referee)
      • 4 or more athletes = 1 FOPO (referee)

      FOPO needs to hold an ITF license.

      *Failure to provide the required number of Field of play officials (referees) will lead to a fine of 900 EUR per missing referee.

      COMPETITION SPECIFICS

      • There is no limit in registration to the number of athletes per country/region per event per gender and a number of team officials.
      • Each delegation must register a minimum of 1 coach.

      Minimum number of umpires (field of play official) per delegation:

      • from 1 to 4 athletes = 0 field of play officials (umpire)
      • 5 or more athletes = 1 field of play official (umpires)

      Umpires must have a national/continental or international level license.

      *Failure to provide the required number of Field of play officials (umpires) will lead to a fine of 900 EUR per missing umpire.

      COMPETITION SPECIFICS

      • All athletes must have a valid FIG license which is valid till the end of the competition
      • There is no limit to the number of athletes (teams) per country/region per event per gender and number of judges
      • The group is composed of 5 to 6 athletes.
      • Athletes who have competed in a Senior Age category in an official FIG event may not participate in the Gymnasiade.

      Coaches :

      • All coaches must be in possession of a valid FIG coach profile

      Each delegation is required to bring judge(s) All judges must have a valid FIG brevet (Category 1-2-3 or 4)

      • Individual Participation = 1 judge
      • Group Participation = 1 judge
      • Individual and Group Participation = 2 judges

      Example

      • 1 or more Individuals = 1 judge
      • 2 groups from 5-6 athletes=2 judges
      • 1 or more individual athletes +2 groups
      • from 5 to 6 athletes= 3 judges
        *and so on

      Note: If competing in both individual and group exercises, two judges are required, but one judge
      is allowed if he /she has a FIG brevet for both the RGI and RGG.

      *Failure to provide the required number of Field of play officials ( judges) will lead to a fine of 900
      EUR per missing judge.

      • Referees must hold a UWW referee license for 2025.
